I am regularly asked questions about my background. So below is a little more information about me.
Gary performs magic at all types of events.
I also love to draw.
I have loved magic since I was a little kid, and 19 years I turned this love for magic into a business. In addition to performing shows for children and adults, I also teach magic classes at over 140 park districts in Illinois. (These classes are in the following counties: Cook, Lake, Dupage, Will, and McHenry.) I'm proud to say that over the years I have taught more than 100,000 students. Additionally, I typically perform at over 400 birthdays, special events, and camps each year.
But there's a lot more to me than just magic. For the past 20 years, I have also been employed as a school social worker. I am at a great district, and I get to work with a tremendous group of kids, teachers, parents, and administration on a daily basis.
When I'm not working, my friends and family joke that I don't slow down. I will admit that I like to keep busy, and I have a number of activities that take up much of my free time. For starters, I love to go to the gym and I try to keep very active. I also have a number of fun hobbies that keep me busy. I have always enjoyed artwork and am constantly drawing portraits. (Click here to see some of my favorite drawings.) I also like to read, juggle, solve puzzles/brainteasers, and watch great movies or tv shows.
Here are some other little known facts about me: --- I created and published 12 board games and 12 books when I was in my 20s.--- Prior to being a school social worker, I was a computer programmer for 7 years.--- I received a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign (major in psychology, minor in mathematics), and a master's degree in social work from Loyola University.--- I studied Tae Kwon Do when I was a young adult for over 7 years.--- When it comes to athletics, I have always been very involved in racquet sports. It started in high school with tennis, and then over the years it expanded to racquetball, badminton, and ping pong.
(This next one is the social worker in me talking.) I believe that anything worth doing, is worth doing well. So whenever I get involved in an activity, I always try to excel at it. And I always tell children that success doesn't happen overnight. It takes hard work, patience, and dedication. And no matter how difficult something is, one should never quit.
And finally, there is one question that I am constantly asked. "When will I stop doing magic?" My answer is always the following . . .
Hopefully Never!!!!
